Two killed, three injured in separate incidents in DIKhan

Two persons were killed in a firing incident at a petrol pump on Dera Ismail Khan-Darazinda Road, while three others, including a police official, sustained injuries in an exchange of fire between police and suspected robbers in another incident in the district.

According to police, four unidentified armed men riding two motorcycles opened fire on a car near Mehboob Petrol Pump on Daraban Road. As a result, Umar Alam Sherani and his friend Muhammad Irfan, who were travelling towards Darazinda, were killed on the spot.
A brother of the deceased, Muhammad Alam son of Jan Alam Sherani, lodged a report at Daraban Police Station, stating that the victims were travelling in a car (AWT-1275) when the attackers opened fire on them with an intention to kill. He said the family had no known enmity with anyone. Police registered a case under Sections 302, 427 and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code and started investigation.
In another incident, three persons, including Head Constable Sher Akbar, sustained injuries when police exchanged fire with suspected armed robbers near Baloch Hotel on Dera-Bannu Road within the jurisdiction of Giloti Police Station.
Police said a patrol party received information that 10 to 12 unidentified armed men had allegedly blocked the road with the intention of committing a robbery. When the police reached the spot, the suspects opened fire, prompting retaliatory firing by the police.
During the exchange of fire, Head Constable Sher Akbar, Javed Iqbal son of Abdul Mateen, resident of Mardan district, and Pir Ghulam son of Sahib Jan, resident of Syedabad Panyala, sustained injuries. The suspects escaped under the cover of darkness and nearby forest, police said.
The injured were shifted to DHQ Hospital Dera Ismail Khan under police escort. A case was registered against unidentified suspects under Sections 394, 353, 148 and 149 of the Pakistan Penal Code, and further investigation was underway.
In a separate incident in Mughal Kot, three to four armed men allegedly intercepted two persons travelling to an under-construction building and deprived them of cash and mobile phones before abducting an engineer.
According to the complaint lodged at Mughal Kot Police Station by Ahmed Iqbal son of Iqbal Syed, a resident of Karak, he and engineer Ejaz, resident of Muriali, were travelling on a motorcycle from Aman Mela Check Post towards an under-construction building in Mughal Kot. He said that near Dubai Hotel on Zhob Road, three to four armed men carrying pistols and Kalashnikovs intercepted them. The suspects allegedly snatched Rs7,000 in cash and a mobile phone from him, while they took the engineer’s mobile phone and drone camera and abducted him at gunpoint.
Police have registered a case and launched further investigation into the incident.
