Trauma Centre DHQ Hospital DIKhan handles 2,415 patients during Independence Day
Dera Ismail Khan , Aug 16 (APP):The Trauma, Accident & Emergency Centre of DHQ Teaching Hospital, Medical Teaching Institution (MTI), Dera Ismail Khan, handled 2,415 OPD patients and admitted 993 patients during August 13 and 14, according to its two-day performance report.
According to the report, the centre conducted 1,442 laboratory tests, 370 X-rays and 164 ECGs, while 275 operation theatre (OT) cases were also managed during the two-day period.
Trauma Manager Muhammad Umair Khan, while reviewing the two-day performance, said that the figures reflected the continued workload on the hospital’s trauma and emergency services and the centre’s efforts to provide timely medical assistance to patients.
He said the trauma centre remained operational round the clock, with dedicated medical teams attending emergency, accident and other critical cases besides providing diagnostic and treatment facilities under one roof.
He emphasized that timely assessment, rapid response and coordinated management of trauma and emergency patients remained among the centre’s key priorities. He added that the medical, nursing, laboratory, radiology and emergency teams were working in coordination to facilitate patients and ensure uninterrupted healthcare services.
The report showed that 1,248 patients visited the OPD on August 13, while 1,167 patients were received on August 14, bringing the two-day total to 2,415 patients.
Of the total OPD cases, 1,167 were emergency cases, 804 medical cases, 236 children cases and 115 road accident cases. Other cases included 49 nephrology, 20 bite, nine surgical, four ENT, four orthopaedic, two eye, two skin, one dental, one heat-stroke and one poisoning case.
The admissions overview showed that 532 patients were admitted on August 13 and 461 on August 14, making a total of 993 admissions.
Under investigations and procedures, the centre recorded 532 admissions, 102 minor OT procedures and 17 major OT procedures on August 13, while on August 14 there were 461 admissions, 140 minor OT and 16 major OT procedures.
Similarly, 937 pathology/laboratory tests were conducted on August 13 and 505 on August 14, totaling 1,442 tests. The radiology section performed 209 X-rays on August 13 and 161 on August 14, totaling 370, while ECG services recorded 84 and 80 cases, respectively, for a two-day total of 164.
Muhammad Umair Khan said the centre’s performance was being continuously monitored to identify areas requiring further improvement and to ensure that patients, particularly those requiring urgent and specialized care, received prompt attention.
He reiterated the commitment of the Trauma, Accident & Emergency Centre to maintaining 24/7 emergency services, strengthening coordinated patient care and providing efficient treatment and diagnostic facilities to the people of Dera Ismail Khan and surrounding areas.
