Tourism authority steps up safety awareness for tourists

ABBOTTABAD, Sep 13 (APP):The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority has intensified its awareness campaign to ensure the safety and facilitate tourists visiting Galiyat and other tourist destinations across the province during the monsoon season.
Culture and Tourism Officer Saima Imran, while briefing journalists from Peshawar at the Tourism Facilitation Centre Abbottabad, said that Tourism Police and Rescue 1122 personnel were actively guiding tourists, providing safety information and distributing written awareness material among visitors.
She said special focus was being given to preventing accidents in rivers and streams at tourist destinations, including Swat, Saifullah Lake and Naran’s River Kunhar, on the directives of KP Adviser for Tourism Malik Adil Iqbal, Secretary Tourism Saadat Hassan and Director General Tourism Shahid Khan.
Saima Imran said heavy rains and rising water levels in rivers and streams were expected during the monsoon season and urged tourists to stay away from fast-flowing water. She warned that several tourists had lost their lives while taking photographs, selfies and making TikTok videos near dangerous water channels.
She further urged tourists to exercise extra caution at locations where Tourism Department, Tourism Police and Rescue 1122 personnel were not available, stressing that responsible behaviour and adherence to safety guidelines were essential to prevent loss of precious human lives.
