Tank police finalize Muharram security plan with religious leaders

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Jun 08 (APP): District Police Officer (DPO) Abdul Samad Khan on Monday chaired an important meeting with Shia community elders, Imambargah custodians and local notables to review security arrangements and promote inter-sect harmony ahead of Muharram-ul-Haram.
The meeting, held at the Command and Control Room, was attended by SP Investigation Khalid Mahmood Khan, DSP Rural Haji Kifayatullah Mastikhel and other police officers concerned. The participants discussed in detail measures for maintaining law and order during Muharram, ensuring foolproof security for religious gatherings and processions, monitoring procession routes, managing parking arrangements, strengthening the role of volunteers and preparing for any emergency situation.
Addressing the participants, DPO Abdul Samad Khan said maintaining peace during Muharram remained the police department’s top priority and that all available resources would be utilized to ensure the safety of mourners and the public. He urged community elders and Imambargah administrators to work closely with the police and ensure strict compliance with the code of conduct and security SOPs.
The meeting also reviewed a range of security-related proposals and finalized a coordinated strategy for the peaceful conduct of Majalis and processions. The participants reaffirmed their commitment to effective coordination, religious tolerance, inter-sect harmony and public safety.
At the end, Shia community leaders and Imambargah custodians assured the police of their full cooperation and pledged to continue joint efforts to uphold peace, unity and discipline throughout Muharram-ul-Haram.
