On the directives of the Commissioner Peshawar Division, Riaz Khan Mehsud, the officials of Regional Transport Authority (RTA) has started visiting bus terminals of the provincial capital to prevent the fleecing of commuters and implement the transport fares in letter and spirit on the eve of Eidul Fitr.
RTA alerted to prevent fleecing of commuters

PESHAWAR, Mar 15 (APP): On the directives of the Commissioner Peshawar Division, Riaz Khan Mehsud, the officials of Regional Transport Authority (RTA) has started visiting bus terminals of the provincial capital to prevent the fleecing of commuters and implement the transport fares in letter and spirit on the eve of Eidul Fitr.
In this regard, the authorities have displayed official fare lists at prominent locations at passenger terminals so that passengers are aware of the fixed fares and can complain about any kind of fleecing.
On the instructions of the Commissioner Peshawar Division, special teams comprising officers of the district administration and the Regional Transport Authority have been formed to conduct surprise inspections at various locations and transport hubs in the city.
These teams will also collect information about fares directly from passengers to ensure implementation of the officially fixed fare.According to officials, strict legal action will be taken against transporters who charge excessive fares, which will include canceling their route permits as well as arresting the owners concerned.
Commissioner Peshawar Division Riaz Khan Mehsud has strictly directed all transport owners to ensure collection of fares as per the official fare list and not to cause any inconvenience to the passengers, otherwise strict action will be taken as per the law.
