PESHAWAR, Aug 31 (APP):Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) spokesperson here Monday issued a clarification regarding the recent load shedding in its service region, attributing the reduction in power supply to the unavailability of RLNG.
According to a PESCO spokesperson, power generation has declined due to the shortage of Re-Gasified Liquefied Natural Gas (RLNG), resulting in a temporary load management of one to three hours during peak hours.
The spokesperson in a statement said the temporary load management would be withdrawn as soon as the power supply improves.
However, electricity is being supplied according to the scheduled load management plan in areas where power losses are high, the spokesperson added.
PESCO urged consumers to conserve electricity during peak hours and avoid unnecessary use of power.
The spokesperson also said electricity theft through illegal connections, commonly known as kundas, increases during nighttime hours, causing the system to become overloaded.
“Overloading leads to faults in the system, which ultimately results in an increase in load shedding,” the spokesperson said.
PESCO appealed to consumers to conserve electricity and report cases of electricity theft to help prevent overloading and improve the stability of the power supply.
