Rescue 1122 sets up heatwave camps across KP as Met Office warns of intense heat

Rescue 1122 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has established heatwave camps in various districts of the province following forecasts of an intense heatwave and soaring temperatures across the region.

PESHAWAR, Jun 08 (APP):Rescue 1122 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has established heatwave camps in various districts of the province following forecasts of an intense heatwave and soaring temperatures across the region.
According to a spokesperson for Rescue 1122 KP, the camps have been set up to provide emergency assistance, first aid, and public awareness services to help citizens cope with the extreme weather conditions.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has warned that heatwave conditions are likely to persist from June 7 to 12, with temperatures in several districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Peshawar, Mardan, Bannu, Karak, Lakki Marwat and Dera Ismail Khan, expected to remain 4 to 6 degrees Celsius above normal. Maximum temperatures in these areas may range between 41C and 46C.
The Met Office attributed the rise in temperatures to a high-pressure system prevailing over the country and advised the public to take precautionary measures to avoid heat-related illnesses.
Rescue 1122 urged citizens to avoid unnecessary exposure to direct sunlight, especially during peak daytime hours, drink plenty of water, wear light clothing, and take special care of children, elderly persons, and those with underlying health conditions.
The spokesperson further appealed to the public to immediately contact the Rescue 1122 emergency helpline in case of any heat-related emergency or other urgent situation.
