Dera Ismail Khan, Sep 27 (APP): A Rescue 1122 rescuer, Imtiaz, who was critically injured when an ambulance came under attack while transporting victims of the Darazinda blast, succumbed to his injuries during treatment on Sunday.
According to Rescue 1122 spokesperson Imtiaz, an HTV rescuer of Rescue 1122 Dera Ismail Khan was seriously wounded in the attack on the ambulance while he was performing his duty to transport victims of the deadly blast at the Aman Mela joint checkpost in Darazinda.
The Rescue 1122 ambulance came under fire while transporting the bodies of victims of the blast on Saturday. The attack left one rescuer martyred and two others critically injured. Imtiaz later succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
Earlier, the Aman Mela joint checkpost in Darazinda was targeted in a powerful blast on Saturday, leaving several people martyred and dozens injured. The Rescue 1122 team immediately responded to the incident and transported the injured and bodies from the scene.
The spokesperson said that Imtiaz had been performing his duties with dedication and courage and rendered services for the protection and safety of the public.
He said the martyrdom of the Rescue 1122 official was a major tragedy for the organisation and an irreparable loss for his colleagues and the entire rescue service.
The Rescue 1122 spokesperson expressed condolences to the bereaved family and paid tribute to Imtiaz for sacrificing his life while performing his professional duties.
The injured Rescue 1122 personnel were being provided medical treatment following the attack, while the relevant authorities were investigating the incident.
