Quality healthcare top priority of KP govt: Shafi Jan
PESHAWAR, Jul 03 (APP): Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Minister Shafi Jan paid a surprise visit to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital, Kohat, on Friday to review healthcare facilities and arrangements for patients.
According to an official statement, the minister inspected various sections of the hospital and reviewed the medical services being provided to patients. He also met patients and their attendants and sought feedback on the quality of treatment and other facilities.
Shafi Jan directed the hospital administration to ensure the provision of timely and quality healthcare services, saying that negligence or shortcomings in patient care would not be tolerated.
He said that providing quality healthcare facilities in public hospitals was among the provincial government’s top priorities, adding that the health sector remained a key focus of the government.
The minister said the provincial government had increased the health budget for the current fiscal year from Rs 275 billion to Rs 334 billion.
He added that Rs 50 billion had been allocated under the Universal Health Coverage programme to provide free medical treatment to the public.
