Prime accused in mother and infant’s murder killed in encounter
PESHAWAR, Jul 02 (APP): The prime accused wanted in the brutal murder of a woman and her infant son was killed during a police encounter in the Matani area here on Thursday, while two of his accomplices managed to escape.
According to police, the exchange of fire took place near Akhun Baba Graveyard within the jurisdiction of Matani Police Station after police received tip about the presence of wanted suspects.
The dead suspect was identified as Sikandar alias Lamba, son of Alauddin. Police said he was the main accused in the recent double murder in the Pasani area of Matani, where a woman and her young son were allegedly murdered and their bodies thrown into a well.
Police said the fleeing suspects included Imran alias Daba and another unidentified man. A search operation has been launched to apprehend them.
Police further stated that the slain suspect was also believed to be a facilitator of terrorist elements and was wanted by law enforcement agencies in several serious criminal and sabotage-related cases.
Police said search and intelligence-based operations would continue until the arrest of remaining suspects.
