PESHAWAR, Jul 16 (APP):Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Zulfiqar Hameed on Thursday said that police force was being further strengthened through modern technology, advanced weaponry, and professional training to effectively tackle evolving security challenges.
He said this during his visit to Lower Dir district to meet the families of police personnel martyred in the recent terrorist attack and inquire after injured officers.
The IGP was received on arrival by Regional Police Officer (RPO) Malakand Fida Hassan and District Police Officer (DPO) Lower Dir Talal Ahmad Shah. A smartly turned-out police contingent presented a guard of honour.
The IGP visited the martyrs’ memorial, laid a floral wreath, offered prayers, and paid tribute to the police personnel who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty. He also prayed for the elevation of the ranks of the martyrs.
During his visit, Zulfiqar Hameed met the families of the police personnel who embraced martyrdom in Wednesday’s terrorist attack. Expressing his heartfelt condolences, he assured the bereaved families of the police department’s full support.
Addressing the families, the IGP said the martyrs were the heroes of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police and stressed that their families would never be left alone.
 “Their children are our children,” he said, adding that the department was utilizing all available resources for the welfare of the families of fallen officers.
The IGP also distributed financial assistance cheques among the families of the martyrs and injured personnel, reaffirming the police department’s commitment to honouring the sacrifices of its martyrs and ensuring continued support for their families.
Later, the IGP met local elders to discuss the overall law and order situation. He emphasized that public cooperation was essential to defeating anti-state elements and ensuring lasting peace in the province. He said the combined efforts of the police and the public would foil the designs of terrorists.
The IGP also visited Timergara hospital, where he inquired after police personnel injured in the terrorist attack. He praised their courage, dedication, and professionalism, and directed hospital authorities and doctors to ensure the provision of the best possible medical treatment.
Speaking to journalists, Zulfiqar Hameed said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police was confronting terrorists associated with Fitna al-Khawarij with exceptional bravery and professionalism and would not allow them to succeed in their nefarious objectives.
The IGP concluded by paying tribute to the martyrs, injured officers, and all personnel of the Lower Dir Police for their bravery, sacrifices, and professional services. He reaffirmed the force’s commitment to protecting the lives and property of citizens and maintaining lasting peace across the province.
