PESCO Dera intensifies efforts to recover outstanding dues

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Jul 29 (APP): PESCO Dera has stepped up efforts to improve the recovery of outstanding electricity dues, saying better bill recovery will help reduce load-shedding and improve power supply in affected areas.

Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) PESCO City-I, Engr. Waqas Khan Baloch, shared the strategy while speaking to a delegation of local elders, led by Suhail Ahmed Gangohi and Rashid Babloo, at his office. He said the utility’s campaign against electricity theft and illegal connections would continue, adding that if consumers on the Commissionery Bazaar feeder cooperated in clearing their outstanding bills, the existing 16-hour daily load-shedding could be reduced to 12 hours.

He said PESCO was committed to addressing the genuine concerns of consumers while ensuring a fair and efficient electricity distribution system.

The SDO further said APMS meters were being installed on the Muslim Bazaar feeder to introduce transformer-based load management. Under the new system, load-shedding will be determined on the recovery performance of individual transformers instead of the entire feeder. Areas with better bill recovery will receive fewer power outages, while transformers with poor recovery will continue to face longer periods of load-shedding.

Engr Waqas Khan also urged consumers without electricity meters to submit applications for the installation of legal connections, enabling them to become regular PESCO consumers.
