KP Relief minister directs agencies to strengthen coordination during monsoon season

PESHAWAR, Jul 17 (APP): Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Relief, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Aqibullah Khan has directed all relevant departments to further strengthen coordination and inter-agency cooperation to ensure a timely and effective response to any emergency during the ongoing monsoon season.
During visits to the Rescue 1122 and Civil Defence offices in Swabi, undertaken on the directives of the Chief Minister, the minister reviewed preparedness measures and precautionary arrangements for the monsoon season.
He stressed the need for proactive planning and the effective use of all available resources to safeguard lives and property.
The minister inspected the Rescue 1122 control room, emergency operations, fire and rescue units, water rescue services, medical facilities, vehicles and emergency equipment.
He was briefed on the district’s emergency response mechanism, available resources, operational performance and special monsoon preparedness measures.
Appreciating the professional capabilities and prompt response of Rescue 1122 personnel, Aqibullah Khan said the service was playing a commendable role in providing efficient and timely emergency assistance to the public.
He reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to further enhancing the institution’s capacity through modern equipment and improved facilities.
He emphasized that all concerned departments must remain on high alert throughout the monsoon season, adding that advance planning, swift action and close coordination were essential for dealing with any emergency.
During the visit, the minister also planted a commemorative sapling as part of the ongoing tree plantation campaign and highlighted the importance of afforestation in environmental protection and reducing the impact of natural disasters.
Later, he visited the Civil Defence office in Swabi, where Rescue 1122, Civil Defence and the district administration jointly briefed him on disaster preparedness and monsoon response arrangements.
The minister instructed Civil Defence officials to remain vigilant, maintain close coordination with all relevant agencies and ensure an immediate and effective response to any untoward incident to protect the lives and property of citizens.
