KP Minister inaugurates business incubation centre, online payment system at AUP

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Higher Education, Archives and Libraries, and Local Government, Meena Khan Afridi, on Thursday inaugurated a newly constructed Business Incubation Centre and launched the 1LINK online e-payment system during a visit to the Agriculture University Peshawar.

PESHAWAR, Jul 02 (APP): Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Higher Education, Archives and Libraries, and Local Government, Meena Khan Afridi, on Thursday inaugurated a newly constructed Business Incubation Centre and launched the 1LINK online e-payment system during a visit to the Agriculture University Peshawar.
Speaking at the ceremony, the provincial minister said the university would continue to make progress and urged faculty members to focus on research and the development of new crop varieties. He stressed that research would have greater value when translated into industrial applications and practical use.
The minister formally launched the 1LINK online payment system by conducting its first transaction.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Sarzamin Khan welcomed the minister and thanked Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and the provincial government for recognising the university’s performance through a cash award.
He said the government had introduced a transparent performance-based grant system to improve the quality of higher education and promote academic, research and administrative excellence in public universities.
Dean Prof Dr Iqbal Munir and Registrar Dr Abdul Salam briefed the participants on the university’s academic and administrative initiatives, while Director CNEP Gohar-ur-Rehman Khalil highlighted the features of the 1LINK online payment system.
The university’s Director Works said the new Business Incubation Centre houses a lecture theatre, display centre, workshops, video conferencing room, technology transfer unit, committee room, computer laboratory, library, professional development facilities, intellectual property office, industrial linkages section and administrative offices.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Sarzamin Khan presented commemorative shields to Provincial Minister Meena Khan Afridi, Local Government Secretary Zafar-ul-Islam and Additional Secretary Higher Education Muhammad Farooq.
