KP Govt. undertaking planning to achieve food sufficiency: CM

PESHAWAR, Jun 06 (APP): Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Sohail Afridi has said that the provincial government is undertaking comprehensive planning to achieve food self-sufficiency and that relevant departments have already been issued necessary directives in this regard.
He was addressing a ceremony that was organized by KP Food Safety and Halal Food Authority in connection with World Food Safety Day. He expressed confidence that by 2030, KP would attain self-sufficiency in a number of key sectors and announced that the upcoming provincial budget would include enhanced allocations for food department and construction of modern, technology-driven wheat storage facilities aimed at improving food security and reducing post-harvest losses.
CM emphasized that raising public awareness regarding safe food practices and promoting responsible consumption behaviors are critical requirements of the present time. He noted that the establishment of KP food authority has significantly improved the availability of safe and healthy food for the public.
CM’s aide for Food Dr. Muhammad Israr, Secretary Food and the Director General KP food authority also addressed the ceremony.
