PESHAWAR, Jun 08 (APP): Advisor to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister on Agriculture, Mian Muhammad Umar, chaired a meeting on Monday to review reforms and performance of the Agricultural Development Fund and directed officials to enhance support services for farmers through modern technology.
The meeting decided to modernize the Agricultural Development Fund and further strengthen its financial and administrative capacities to improve service delivery and promote sustainable agricultural growth across the province.
Participants were given a detailed briefing on seed production, storage facilities and the mechanism for supplying quality seeds to farmers. The meeting reviewed ongoing operations and discussed measures to improve efficiency and transparency in the system.
The participants also deliberated on various challenges facing the agricultural sector, including shortages of modern processing machinery and human resources, and explored possible solutions to address these issues.
Speaking on the occasion, Mian Muhammad Umar directed the relevant authorities to ensure the timely provision of weather forecasts and crop-related information to farmers through a dedicated call center, mobile application and web portal.
He said the use of digital platforms would help farmers make informed decisions, improve productivity and better cope with changing climatic conditions.
The advisor reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to making the agriculture sector self-reliant, competitive and aligned with modern technologies, adding that agriculture remained a key pillar of the province’s economy and food security.
