KP Govt holds open court in Gumbat to address public grievances

KOHAT, Jul 20 (APP):The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government on Monday organized a Khuli Katchery (open court) in Tehsil Gumbat under its Good Governance Roadmap to provide citizens with direct access to senior officials and ensure the prompt resolution of public grievances. The event was attended by MNA Shehryar Afridi, Commissioner Kohat Division Syed Motasim Billah Shah, Regional Police Officer (RPO) Irfan Tariq, Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Nawaz Wazir, District Police Officer (DPO) Shahbaz Elahi, former Tehsil Chairman Gumbat Sajid Iqbal, heads of government departments, public representatives, and a large number of local residents.
Residents raised issues relating to law and order, healthcare, education, electricity, gas supply, drinking water, road infrastructure, drainage, revenue, land matters, and municipal services. The forum provided an opportunity for citizens to present their concerns directly before the district administration and relevant departments for immediate action.
Addressing the gathering, MNA Shehryar Afridi said the government was committed to delivering public services at the doorstep and strengthening institutional accountability through the Good Governance Roadmap. Commissioner Syed Motasim Billah Shah, RPO Irfan Tariq, and Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Nawaz Wazir assured participants that all complaints received during the open court would be closely monitored and addressed in coordination with the concerned departments. They also reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to maintaining law and order and protecting the lives and property of citizens.
During the session, heads of various departments responded to public complaints, with several issues resolved on the spot, while more complex cases were referred to the relevant authorities with instructions to submit progress reports within a specified timeframe. The participants reaffirmed the importance of continuing such public outreach initiatives to promote transparent governance, improve service delivery, and ensure the timely resolution of citizens’ grievances.
