PESHAWAR, Jul 30 (APP):The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has approved 17 tourism road projects aimed at improving access to major tourist destinations and promoting sustainable tourism across the province.
Special Assistant to the Chief Minister for Tourism, Malik Adeel Iqbal, said the projects were approved by Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Khan Afridi as part of the provincial government’s efforts to strengthen tourism as a key driver of economic growth and local development.
Under the plan, around Rs.5 billion will be invested in the construction and rehabilitation of 91.5 kilometers of roads linking major tourist destinations in Upper Chitral, Swat, Upper Dir and Lower Dir.
The improved road network is expected to facilitate easier access for domestic and international tourists, enhance connectivity to scenic valleys, and improve travel infrastructure across the region.
He said that said the projects would also promote local businesses, hotels, restaurants and transport services, create new employment and investment opportunities, and contribute to the socio-economic development of the province by expanding the tourism sector.
