KP govt announces 15pc pay, stipend increase for medical staff who worked during strike

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced a 15 percent increase in salaries and stipends for medical staff who continued performing their duties during the ongoing doctors’ protest and strike at government hospitals.

PESHAWAR, Oct 05 (APP): The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced a 15 percent increase in salaries and stipends for medical staff who continued performing their duties during the ongoing doctors’ protest and strike at government hospitals.
The increase will apply only to medical officers, house officers and trainee medical officers (TMOs) who remained on duty instead of joining the strike.
The Post Graduate Medical Institute (PGMI) has directed all Medical Teaching Institutions (MTIs) to provide, within two days, detailed lists of medical officers and trainees who performed duties during the strike.
Officials said the attendance and duty records must be formally verified by the chairperson of the relevant department before the additional payments are processed.
According to the Health Department, only trainees who performed their duties during the strike would be eligible for the additional 15 percent stipend.
The matter of a 15 percent increase or other demands of doctors and trainees who participated in the strike has been deferred pending resolution of the broader dispute.
