KP food authority intensifies province-wide crackdown, seizes adulterated food, beverages

PESHAWAR, Jul 02 (APP): The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority has intensified its province-wide enforcement campaign on the directives of the Special Assistant to the Chief Minister for Food, conducting inspections and raids in Peshawar, Mardan, Swat, Abbottabad, Bannu and Malakand.
According to the Food Authority spokesperson, teams in Mardan seized and destroyed 200 litres of adulterated milk and imposed heavy fines on vendors selling substandard milk.
In Peshawar, authorities arrested the alleged ringleader of a group involved in manufacturing substandard beverages and confiscated 300 litres of hazardous drinks.
In Swat, inspection teams examined dairy businesses and disposed of 500 litres of substandard milk, while further legal action was initiated.
During a checkpoint operation in Abbottabad, officials seized and destroyed 600 litres of adulterated milk and 150 kilograms of meat from diseased chickens. Legal proceedings have also been launched against those responsible.
In Bannu, Food Safety teams, in collaboration with the district administration and livestock officials, inspected milk tankers and disposed of 500 litres of adulterated and unsafe milk. Action has been initiated against the persons involved.
Meanwhile, acting on a tip-off in Malakand, Food Safety teams seized and destroyed 200 kilograms of substandard meat along with unhygienic ice cream and imposed heavy fines on the violators.
The Food Authority reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the availability of safe and quality food across the province through continued enforcement operations.
