PESHAWAR, Jul 27 (APP): The Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, through the Excise Bureau of Intelligence and Investigation, Dera Ismail Khan (D.I.Khan) Squad B-II, successfully foiled a major narcotics smuggling attempt.
During the operation, officials recovered 10 kilograms of crystal meth (Ice) and 2.2 kilograms of heroin, and arrested one accused. A case has been registered at Excise Police Station D.I. Khan, and further investigation is underway.
According to details received from the Excise Department, acting on credible intelligence, the Excise Bureau of Intelligence and Investigation, D.I. Khan Squad B-II, intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number AACZ-761 (Sindh) on the Dera–Daraban Road. During a thorough search of the vehicle, officials recovered 10,000 grams (10 kilograms) of crystal meth (Ice) and 2,200 grams (2.2 kilograms) of heroin.
The accused, Zahir Khan, son of Usman, a resident of Mohallah Killi Neonchari, Samgali Road, Quetta, was arrested on the spot. A case has been registered against the accused person at Excise Police Station D.I. Khan, while further legal proceedings and investigation are in progress.
Under the Zero Tolerance Policy of the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa against narcotics, and in line with the directives of the Minister for Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control, Syed Fakhar Jehan, particularly regarding the eradication of crystal meth (Ice), anti-narcotics operations were being carried out continuously across the province.
The Excise Department has reaffirmed its commitment to continuing indiscriminate action against drug traffickers and smugglers to protect the younger generation from the menace of narcotics.
