PESHAWAR, Jul 02 (APP): Provincial Election Commissioner (EC) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Saeed Gul on Thursday inaugurated a two-month internship programme for university students at the Provincial Election Commissioner’s Office in Peshawar.
Addressing the inaugural session, the Provincial Election Commissioner welcomed the interns and provided an overview of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and the functioning of its provincial office.
He urged the participants to make the most of the programme by focusing on the assignments entrusted to them in various wings of the commission.
Joint Provincial Election Commissioner (Elections) Muhammad Farid Afridi, Joint Provincial Election Commissioner (Administration) Shahid Iqbal, Director (Elections) Muhammad Nadeem Khan and other senior officials attended the ceremony.
Earlier, Director (Elections) Muhammad Nadeem Khan briefed participants on the objectives of the internship programme, saying the interns would work in different sections of the office to gain practical experience and develop a better understanding of the electoral process and the key functions of the ECP.
Deputy Director (Training) Zaheer Ahmad Sahitho delivered a detailed presentation on the constitutional role and responsibilities of the Election Commission of Pakistan.
The participants expressed keen interest in the session and appreciated the ECP for providing them with an opportunity to gain practical experience in a constitutional institution.
