PESHAWAR, Aug 29 (APP):Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi on Saturday visited the home of five-year-old Ayat Noor, who was tragically assaulted and killed.
During the visit, the Chief Minister expressed his heartfelt condolences and solidarity with the bereaved family.
Speaking on the occasion, he said those involved in such heinous crimes would face the strictest possible punishment, stressing that firm action was necessary to ensure that no one would dare commit such an inhuman act in the future.
Chief Minister Sohail Afridi announced the launch of a Safe City project in Haripur at an estimated cost of nearly Rs2 billion.
The chief minister also praised the police for successfully tracing the case and commended the district administration for its support and cooperation during the investigation.
He directed the relevant authorities to introduce further amendments to the Child Protection Act and strengthen existing laws to provide greater protection to children.
During the visit, the chief minister handed over a financial assistance cheque to Ayat Noor’s father and announced that a government job would also be provided to him.
The Chief Minister further announced that the high school in Pathan Colony would be named after Ayat Noor in her memory.
He also announced that a resolution would be presented in the next session of the provincial assembly to name the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Child Protection Bill after Ayat Noor.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by Information Minister Shafi Jan, Provincial Parliamentary Leader and Chief Whip, Akbar Ayub Khan, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader, Yousaf Ayub Khan, Provincial Education Minister, Arshad Ayub Khan, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister, Malik Adil Iqbal, PTI Tehsil President, Faisal Khan Turk, PTI District President, Raja Ehtisham, General Secretary Allah Yar Khan, and other local leaders.
