Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister (CM) Sohail Afridi, accompanied by Provincial Minister for Information Technology Shafi Jan, on Sunday visited the Trauma Centre of District Headquarters Teaching Hospital Dera Ismail Khan and inquired after those injured in the Aman Mela joint checkpost blast in Darazinda.

Dera Ismail Khan, Sep 27 (APP): Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister (CM) Sohail Afridi, accompanied by Provincial Minister for Information Technology Shafi Jan, on Sunday visited the Trauma Centre of District Headquarters Teaching Hospital Dera Ismail Khan and inquired after those injured in the Aman Mela joint checkpost blast in Darazinda.
Former chief minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur, Commissioner Dera Ismail Khan Division, Regional Police Officer Dera Ismail Khan, Deputy Commissioner and District Police Officer Dera Ismail Khan, among other senior officials, were also present.
The CM visited the injured patients and asked about their health and the medical treatment being provided to them. The hospital administration briefed him on the condition of the injured and the treatment arrangements.
The CM directed the concerned authorities to ensure provision of the best possible medical facilities and timely treatment to all injured persons. The hospital administration said all available medical facilities were being provided to the injured at the Trauma Centre.
He also appreciated the courage of law enforcement personnel and local residents who demonstrated exceptional bravery during the incident.
Later, speaking to the media at Al- Amin House, CM Sohail Afridi said the provincial government was serious about combating terrorism and stressed the need for an effective strategy based on ground realities to restore lasting peace in the province.
He condemned terrorism and said any person who used a gun, opened fire, carried out an attack or conducted a suicide attack against Pakistani citizens was a terrorist, irrespective of his area, sect or group.
The CM said the province urgently needed additional security resources as police, security personnel and civilians continued to lose their lives in terrorist incidents.
He said the provincial government had allocated Rs 35 billion to the police to strengthen law and order, and stressed that the people of province wanted peace.
We came to realise that our children, women and youth were losing their lives in these incidents,” he said
He said work on Safe City projects was under way and measures were being taken to improve security systems in Dera Ismail Khan, Lakki Marwat and other areas.
Responding to a question regarding assistance for the families of the victims, CM Afridi said the families of civilians, police personnel and others killed in the current wave of terrorism would be provided a martyr package.
During his visit, the chief minister also met former chief minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur at Al- Amin House, where they discussed matters of mutual interest.
The Aman Mela joint checkpost in Darazinda was targeted in a deadly blast on Saturday, followed by an attack on a Rescue 1122 ambulance transporting victims. The incidents left several people martyred and dozens injured.
