KP CM condemns DIKhan attack, province can no longer bear to witness continued bloodshed

PESHAWAR, Sep 26 (APP): Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi has strongly condemned a terrorist attack in Dera Ismail Khan, branding it a cowardly act by miscreants.

In a video message released on Saturday, he expressed deep grief over loss of lives, remarking that Pashtun citizens have been martyred daily amidst a renewed wave of terrorism.

He said that warnings had previously been raised during formulation of terrorist resettlement policy, anticipating that the region would once again have to bear burden of burying its dead.

He said that despite a specific policy having been in effect for past 22 years, sustainable peace has not been established in province, and warnings calling for a change in approach have repeatedly gone unheeded.

KP CM highlighted that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has been taking every possible measure independently to ensure peace across the region.

Fund allocations from the 2025–26 development budget had been reallocated to provide police force with an additional 35 billion rupees.

Payments have been made to federal agencies to equip police with modern weaponry, equipment, and infrastructure. However, the required gear and Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) have not yet been delivered, he added.

With the police budget for the 2026–27 fiscal year having been increased by 103 per cent to 191 billion rupees, Chief Minister Afridi stressed that the frontline officers must receive their required supplies without further delay, stating that the province can no longer bear to witness continued bloodshed or carry more coffins.
