PESHAWAR, Jun 29 (APP):The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cabinet, in its 54th session, chaired by Chief Minister (CM) Muhammad Sohail Afridi, approved a series of policy, governance, welfare and development measures while reaffirming the government’s commitment to public service, transparency and effective implementation of the provincial budget.
The CM praised cabinet members, lawmakers and relevant departments for preparing what he described as a people-focused budget and directed all departments to ensure timely execution so that public benefits reach citizens at the grassroots level.
Addressing concerns regarding the recent recruitment of 2,400 doctors, the CM said complaints received through the Chief Minister’s Complaint Cell had been reviewed and the recruitment process was found to comply with the prescribed merit and criteria.
He announced that complaints would continue to be accepted and assured action in any verified case of injustice, while directing the Health Department to expedite the deployment of newly recruited doctors.
Briefing the media after the meeting, Information Minister Shafi Jan said the Cabinet approved a complete waiver of succession certificate and letters of administration fees for legal heirs of martyrs, including personnel of the Armed Forces, police, paramilitary forces, martyred civil servants and civilians affected by armed conflict or terrorism.
The Cabinet also approved transfer of two kanals of state land in Dera Ismail Khan to NADRA for establishment of a regional office, constitution of a Debt Management Committee, and creation of a Digital Governance Enablement Unit in the Finance Department.
Among major economic decisions, the Cabinet approved the USD 200 million Public Resources for Inclusive Development (PRID) Programme aimed at improving revenue generation, public expenditure management and service delivery systems.
The Cabinet further allocated Rs 30 million for engaging legal counsel in matters related to the National Finance Commission (NFC), approved amendments to strengthen the Health Care Commission Act, and sanctioned funding for uninterrupted operations of Government General Hospital Nishtarabad, Peshawar.
Other approvals included establishment of a medical college at Jamrud, extension of the Shuhada Package to the Narcotics Control Wing upon notification as a uniformed force, closure and restructuring of the Transport Department’s driving school, and adoption of new commerce and trade statistics rules.
The cabinet additionally approved Rs 5.5 billion in additional funds to compensate 6,900 verified Temporarily Displaced Persons (TDP) families from Tirah and to continue monthly food support assistance under existing entitlements.
