MALAKAND, Aug 10 (APP):The Malakand Forest Department has launched a tree-planting campaign in the Nalo Lodigram mountains in collaboration with the Mishal Welfare Trust Thana.
Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Malakand Wasim Khan inaugurated the campaign by planting a chinar sapling.
Professor (R) Kaleem, Range Forest Officer, Shah Room, Qaumi Jirga President, Zia-ul-Haq, former Chairman Afzal Hussain and Mishal Welfare Trust Chairman Azmat Shallda were along with a large number of local residents present on the occasion.
DFO, Wasim Khan said planting trees was also a religious duty and urged people to plant and protect at least one sapling each.
He said a target had been set to plant 1.4 million saplings across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on August, 14, adding of these, 51,600 saplings would be planted in Malakand district.
Khan called on residents to actively participate in the August 14 plantation campaign to help make Pakistan “clean and green”.
