PESHAWAR, Jun 03 (APP): Commissioner Kohat Division Syed Motasim Billah Shah here Wednesday chaired a Grand Peace Jirga focusing on the overall security situation in Kurram and Orakzai districts and to review preparations for upcoming month of Muharram.
The meeting was attended by tribal elders, jirga members and relevant officials who reviewed in detail the implementation of Kohat Peace Accord, inter-district coordination and measures to maintain law and order during Muharram.
Participants lauded the efforts of the government and law enforcement agencies for maintaining peace and stability in the region. They reaffirmed their commitment to continue full cooperation with the state institutions to ensure lasting peace, stability and the protection of citizens.
It was emphasized that all necessary arrangements for Muharram would be finalized through mutual consultation to promote religious harmony, brotherhood and mutual respect ensuring that no untoward incident occurs during the period.
The participants also agreed on the full and effective implementation of the Kohat Peace Accord stressing that all stakeholders would continue to play their role in achieving durable peace in the area.
The meeting concluded with a renewed pledge to take coordinated action against elements disturbing peace with the support of the public to ensure long-term stability in the area.
