KOHAT, May 12 (APP):Deputy Commissioner, Mohammad Nawaz on Tuesday chaired a high-level meeting to review and strengthen the district’s strategy for preventing and controlling dengue fever.
The meeting, held at the deputy commissioner’s office, was attended by the additional deputy commissioner (general), assistant commissioners and senior officials from the health, education and local government departments, along with representatives of Tehsil Municipal Administrations.
The health authorities briefed the participants on the prevailing dengue situation, the availability of anti-dengue equipment and existing stocks of medicines required for indoor and outdoor residual spraying operations.
Nawaz instructed the concerned departments to launch proactive awareness campaigns, including the display of informational banners at mosques, union councils and government offices to aware the residents about preventive measures against the mosquito-borne disease.
He also ordered the immediate cleaning of water tanks and the removal of stagnant water from high-risk areas to curb mosquito breeding.
The education department was directed to use morning school assemblies to inform the students about the dengue prevention, with the aim of spreading awareness to households through children.
The assistant commissioners were tasked with leading awareness campaigns in their respective areas and monitoring the performance of field teams engaged in anti-dengue activities.
Addressing the meeting, Nawaz said eliminating dengue required collective efforts and urged the residents to cooperate with health surveillance teams and maintain cleanliness in and around their homes to prevent the breeding of the larvae.
