Police have arrested a man for allegedly killing his wife by hitting her on the head with a stone and later staging her death as a mountain fall in the Dheri Manwar area of Kaghan.

KAGHAN, Aug 17 (APP):Police have arrested a man for allegedly killing his wife by hitting her on the head with a stone and later staging her death as a mountain fall in the Dheri Manwar area of Kaghan.
Police said the victim, identified as wife of Rustam son of Daplazir who got married around 10 months ago against the wishes of her family. The family had reportedly severed ties with the couple following the marriage.
According to the police, the woman’s family was informed on August 12 that she had fallen from a mountain and died.
However, an investigation later revealed that she had allegedly been struck on the head with a stone and killed, while the incident was presented as an accidental fall.
Police said the alleged motive behind the murder was the accused’s second marriage. The victim’s brother had also told police that Rustam allegedly subjected his sister to cruel treatment.
SHO Kaghan Sadaqat Khan, along with a police team and investigators, reached the difficult and remote crime scene after undertaking nearly four hours of walking and collected evidence.
The police subsequently arrested Rustam, who allegedly confessed to the crime during interrogation and identified the crime scene.
The accused was produced before a court, where police said he also confessed to the murder. The court sent him to jail on judicial remand for further legal proceedings.
