Governor directs timely completion of power projects to improve electricity supply

Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Tuesday directed the authorities to ensure the timely completion of power development projects in the province especially in Dera Ismail Khan, saying uninterrupted and improved electricity supply was a basic public necessity.

PESHAWAR, Sep 01 (APP): Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Tuesday directed the authorities to ensure the timely completion of power development projects in the province especially in Dera Ismail Khan, saying uninterrupted and improved electricity supply was a basic public necessity.
He issued the directive during a meeting with PESCO Chief Engineer (Development) Habib Ur Rehman Khan Marwat at the Governor House, where they discussed public issues related to WAPDA and ongoing measures to improve the power distribution system.
During the meeting, the Governor was briefed on the progress of electricity development projects in Dera Ismail Khan.
The briefing said work on the Dera Grid-II transmission line was progressing at a fast pace, while more than 50 percent work on an alternative transmission line had already been completed to strengthen the electricity supply system.
The Governor was informed that efforts were also underway to remove legal hurdles delaying the projects and that both the Dera Grid-II transmission line and the alternative line were expected to be completed by December this year.
The meeting was further informed that the Band Korai Grid Station had been completed and would be inaugurated next month.
Speaking on the occasion, Governor Kundi said the timely completion of power projects was essential to ensure better electricity services for the public.
He urged the relevant authorities to take effective measures to resolve electricity-related issues faced by consumers.
The Governor said the completion of the ongoing projects in Dera Ismail Khan would help address low voltage, overloading and other power supply problems, providing improved electricity facilities to the people.
