The Food Safety and Halal Food Authority, Hazara Division, on Thursday destroyed a large quantity of unsafe, substandard and expired food items seized during inspections and enforcement operations, reaffirming its commitment to ensuring the availability of safe and quality food for consumers.
Food Authority destroys seized unsafe, expired food items
ABBOTTABAD, Aug 06 (APP): The Food Safety and Halal Food Authority, Hazara Division, on Thursday destroyed a large quantity of unsafe, substandard and expired food items seized during inspections and enforcement operations, reaffirming its commitment to ensuring the availability of safe and quality food for consumers.
The confiscated items were destroyed in accordance with the prescribed legal procedures in the presence of Regional Director Food Safety and Halal Food Authority Hazara, Mubashir Manzoor, and Deputy Director (Headquarters) Rehman Gul.
The destroyed products included fake honey, counterfeit beverages marketed under various brand names, China salt, Talbina, biscuits, packing rolls, pops and other substandard and expired food items that had been confiscated during inspections conducted across the division.
Speaking on the occasion, Regional Director Mubashir Manzoor said the destruction of the seized items reflected the authority’s zero-tolerance policy towards violations affecting public health. He urged food business operators to strictly comply with food safety laws, warning that indiscriminate legal action would continue against anyone found producing, storing or selling unsafe food products.
He said inspection and monitoring activities would continue across Hazara Division to ensure the supply of safe, quality and halal food to the public.
Deputy Director (Headquarters) Rehman Gul said protecting public health remained the authority’s foremost responsibility. He added that the production, storage and sale of substandard, unsafe and expired food products would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
