Fines imposed on petrol pumps for fuel gauge violations
DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Jul 20 (APP): Additional Assistant Commissioners Tank, Malik Sajid Ali Khan and Muhammad Irfan, accompanied by Civil Defence In-charge Muhammad Shoaib Khan paid a surprise visit to inspect petrol pumps along the Tank–Dera Ismail Khan Road here on Monday.
During the inspection, the officials reviewed fire safety arrangements, fuel gauge accuracy, cleanliness, and the quality of petroleum products to ensure compliance with government regulations and public safety standards.
The inspection team found inadequate fire safety measures at several petrol pumps.
The civil defence department issued on-the-spot notices to the owners, directing them to immediately complete all required fire safety arrangements to avoid further legal action.
It also detected irregularities in fuel gauge measurements at some outlets.
Fines were imposed on the responsible petrol pump owners for violating regulations, with officials stressing that strict action would continue against anyone involved in short measuring or compromising fuel quality.
The officials reiterated that such inspections were aimed at protecting consumers’ rights, ensuring the supply of quality fuel in the correct quantity, and enforcing safety standards at petrol pumps across the district.
