DPO hands over recovered motorcycles, visits Martyr’s family, directs for crackdown against illegal gold mining

KOHAT, Mar 10 (APP):District Police Officer (DPO) Shehbaz Elahi on Tuesday handed over several recovered motorcycles to their rightful owners, reaffirming the police department’s commitment to protecting the people’s lives and property.
A ceremony in that regard was held at the DPO Office Kohat, attended by police officers and the owners of the recovered motorcycles.
During the event, Cantt Police returned the keys of motorcycles recovered during various operations to their owners, who expressed gratitude to the Police for the timely recovery of their vehicles.
Station House Officer (SHO) Cantt, Hayatullah Khan was also present on the occasion.
Speaking at the ceremony, the DPO said the police were taking all possible measures to curb crime and ensure the safety of public property.
He said action against criminal elements would continue without interruption, adding that the recovery and return of stolen valuables remained among the department’s top priorities.
He appreciated the performance of police teams, adding their professional strategy and effective operations had made it possible to trace and return the stolen motorcycles to their owners.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the DPO personally handed over the keys to the owners and extended best wishes to them.
Later, the DPO visited the residence of martyred DSP, Asad Mahmood in the district to offer condolences to the bereaved family.
DSP Asad Mahmood was serving as DSP Lachi, embraced martyrdom during an operation against criminal elements within the jurisdiction of Police Station Shakardara.
The DPO met the martyr’s son, Muhammad Khan, and other family members, shared their grief and prayed for the elevation of the martyr’s ranks.
He said police martyrs were the pride of the nation and their sacrifices would never be forgotten.
He added that DSP Asad Mahmood set a shining example of bravery and devotion to duty by sacrificing his life in the line of duty.
The DPO assured the family that the police department would continue to support the heirs in every possible way.
Meanwhile, the district police arrested a key facilitator involved in illegal gold mining as part of an ongoing crackdown in the district.
According to police, the suspect had filmed himself with weapons and uploaded the video on social media to promote illegal mining activities.
Acting promptly, SHO Shakardara Abid Waseem Khan, along with a police team, arrested the accused and recovered arms from his possession.
DPO, Shehbaz Elahi said strict action would continue against all individuals involved in illegal gold mining and related criminal activities, reiterating that no one involved in lawlessness would be spared.
