Cop martyred in targeted shooting in Bannu

PESHAWAR, Aug 06 (APP):A police constable was martyred after unidentified gunmen opened fire on him in Bannu on Thursday, police said.

According to the Bannu Police spokesperson, the martyred constable was identified as Noor Alam Khan, who was serving in the Special Branch.

The incident occurred near Masoom Abad on the Bannu-Miranshah Road within the jurisdiction of Cantonment Police Station.

Police said the assailants targeted the constable while he was on his way from home to report for duty.

The attackers fled the scene immediately after the shooting.

Police cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to trace the suspects.

An investigation is underway from multiple angles to determine the motive behind the attack.
