Commissioner Kohat urges reluctant parents to vaccinate children
PESHAWAR, Sep 21 (APP):Commissioner Kohat Division Syed Moatasim Billah Shah on Monday inspected the ongoing polio vaccination campaign in Kohat and persuaded some reluctant parents to get their children vaccinated.
On the first day of the campaign, the commissioner visited several areas to monitor the performance of vaccination teams, security arrangements and efforts to administer polio drops to children under five.
Accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Kohat Muhammad Nawaz Wazir, District Health Officer Dr. Nasir Hassan Afridi and representatives of the World Health Organization, he observed vaccination activities and checked finger marks on children’s hands to verify vaccination.
During the visit, the commissioner held discussions with parents who had initially declined polio vaccination for their children and explained the importance of the drops. The parents subsequently agreed to have their children vaccinated.
Shah appreciated the efforts of polio workers and stressed the need to ensure that every child under five was reached during the campaign. He directed vaccination teams to continue awareness efforts and engage with parents to address their concerns.
He also reviewed security arrangements for the vaccination teams and appreciated the police personnel deployed for their protection.
