CM takes serious note of Khyber incident, orders inquiry
PESHAWAR, Sep 28 (APP): Chief Minister (CM) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Sohail Afridi on Monday took serious note of the unfortunate incident in Khyber district and directed that the District Police Officer (DPO) Khyber be temporarily closed to Police Headquarters.
Under Section 9(2) of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police Act, 2017, the CM directed that an inquiry into the incident be conducted within a period of seven days.
In a letter addressed to the Inspector General of Police, the Chief Minister’s Secretariat requested the IGP to take necessary action accordingly and furnish a comprehensive inquiry report to the Secretariat at the earliest, so that the matter is thoroughly examined, responsibility is determined in accordance with law, and appropriate action is taken to uphold the principles of justice and accountability.
The letter was also marked to the Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretary Home and other senior officials of the provincial government.
