CM KP presents supplementary budget of Rs. 121.74 billion

PESHAWAR, Jun 19 (APP):Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sohail Khan Afridi, on Friday presented a supplementary budget of Rs. 121.74 billion for the financial year 2025–26 in the provincial assembly.
Details of the increase in current and development expenditures were presented before the house.
In his budget speech, the Chief Minister said that the estimated current expenditure for the financial year 2025–26 had been set at Rs. 1,415 billion; however, due to additional requirements in various sectors, it increased to Rs. 1,433 billion.
He said that under current expenditures, an additional Rs. 1.38 billion was spent on the Tribal Affairs Department, Rs. 1.29 billion on local government, Rs. 7.5 billion on local bodies, and Rs. 7.35 billion on relief activities. Similarly, Rs. 3 billion was spent for the merged districts and Rs. 1.46 billion on the transport sector.
According to the Chief Minister, the development budget for the financial year 2025–26 was Rs. 547 billion, but through the supplementary budget it has been increased to Rs. 608 billion. This represents a total increase of Rs. 71.73 billion in development expenditures.
He said that to further improve the law and order situation, an additional Rs. 7.1 billion has been allocated for the purchase of armored vehicles for the police.
Sohail Afridi said that an additional Rs. 40.43 billion has been released for the Peshawar Revitalization Project to further improve infrastructure and urban facilities in the provincial capital.
Additional funds have also been allocated for the education, irrigation, and energy sectors. Rs. 1.95 billion was spent on primary and secondary education, while Rs. 2.97 billion was allocated for irrigation and energy projects.
The Chief Minister said that the purpose of the supplementary budget is to ensure public welfare, timely completion of development projects, improvement of law and order, and provision of basic facilities so that the pace of development in the province can be accelerated.
