Chief Minister pays rich tribute to KP police martyrs
PESHAWAR, Aug 05 (APP): Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Sohail Afridi on Wednesday said that it is because of the sacrifices of police martyrs that the people are breathing in a safe environment, paying rich tribute to the martyrs, ghazis and their families of KP Police.
Addressing a ceremony held in connection with Police Martyrs’ Day, the Chief Minister said that KP Police has written an unparalleled history of bravery and sacrifices against terrorism. He announced an additional honorarium of Rs 50,000 for each martyr’s family and directed the authorities to expedite the process of providing residential plots to the heirs of martyrs.
He said that during the previous fiscal year, approximately Rs 35 billion were provided for enhancing the operational capacity of police, Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and Special Branch, while in the current fiscal year, the police budget has been increased from about Rs 85 billion to over Rs 180 billion.
The Chief Minister said that development and prosperity are impossible without peace, which is why establishing peace is the top priority of the government.
He said that police and the people will have to play their role together in the war against terrorism.
He said that policy is essential. Sustainable peace can only be established through wisdom and prudence, not merely through force.
The Chief Minister said that KP government stands with its police and will continue every possible cooperation, he assured.
He said that in accordance with PTI vision, KP Police has been kept completely non-political.
