BANNU, May 13 (APP):Unidentified armed men carried out a daring daylight robbery here on Wednesday by hijacking a private bank cash van and fleeing with more than Rs80 million in cash, police officials said.
The incident took place in the Domel area where the attackers intercepted the cash vehicle, overpowered the security staff and took control of the van.
During the robbery, the assailants also seized weapons from the guards, including rifles and pistols.
According to Bannu Police, the driver and security personnel were later released unharmed, while the robbers escaped with the cash and official weapons before law enforcement could respond.
Police teams reached the scene soon after the incident and launched a search operation across adjoining areas.
Checkpoints were set up to trace the suspects, while investigators began collecting evidence related to the high-profile robbery.
Officials said the robbers later circulated an image of the stolen cash van on social media, adding a new dimension to the investigation. Authorities have intensified efforts to identify and arrest those involved in the incident.
