Adl. Secretary reviews conservation, anti smuggling measures in Kohistan division

Additional Secretary Administration Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Forest Department, Habib-ul-Hasan Gilani on Saturday visited the Dir Kohistan Forest Division in Sharingal to review ongoing efforts to promote forest conservation, sustainable resource management and prevent illegal logging and timber smuggling.

PESHAWAR, Jul 11 (APP): Additional Secretary Administration Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Forest Department, Habib-ul-Hasan Gilani on Saturday visited the Dir Kohistan Forest Division in Sharingal to review ongoing efforts to promote forest conservation, sustainable resource management and prevent illegal logging and timber smuggling.
During the visit, he was briefed on initiatives for forest protection, restoration, afforestation, sustainable management of natural resources, promotion of biodiversity and measures to curb illegal tree felling and timber trafficking.
The Additional Secretary was informed that the department is actively safeguarding natural forests through effective law enforcement, modern management practices and active participation of local communities.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to environmental conservation, the Additional Secretary stated that forests are a national asset and that any negligence in their protection would not be tolerated.
He also inspected the Sharingal tube nursery and bare-root nursery where he reviewed the successful cultivation of indigenous and suitable plant species. He appreciated the high standards maintained at the nurseries, the healthy growth of saplings and the preparations being made for upcoming plantation campaigns.
He emphasized that a strong nursery system and coordinated administrative measures are essential for building a greener, safer and more sustainable KP.
