11,000 allotees of RMT want plot’s possession, ask KP govt to intervene

PESHAWAR, Jun 29 (APP): The 11,000 victims who had deposited Rs. 35 million to acquire plots for construction of their houses in Zones One, Two and Five of Regi Model Town (RMT) 35 years ago have been denied of plots by Peshawar Development Authority (PDA).

This allegation has been made by the President Association of Regi Model Town Zone One, Zone Two and Zone Five, Dr. Nasrullah Jan Wazir while addressing a press conference here at Peshawar Press Club on Monday.

He added that with the cooperation of PDA, their plots in Zones One, Two and Five have been occupied by the encroachment mafia and sold while PDA is collecting taxes on them regularly.

Speaking to media along with other victims, Dr. Nasrullah Jan Wazir said that teachers and heirs of martyrs of various walks of life, including police and other government departments, widows, retired government employees, pensioners and thousands of citizens who had invested their entire life savings in this project in 1991 with the hope that they would be able to build a safe house for themselves and their children, but till date that dream has not been fulfilled.

Around 11,000 allottees who have complete legal financial and institutional documents are deprived of their rights even after 35 years, they added.

Neither is the plot being identified to them, nor are they being given their rights. They demanded from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, Peshawar Development Authority and the relevant institutions that all illegal encroachments and occupations should be immediately removed from Zone One, Zone Two and Zone Fire and that the affected allottees should be given immediate possession of their legal plots and legal action should be taken against the elements responsible for the encroachment mafia and negligence.
