PML-N gains key political figures ahead of AJK polls in Mirpur

Several prominent political leaders and local figures in Azad Jammu and Kashmir’s Constituency-IV (Khari Sharif) have joined the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), a move political observers say could strengthen the party’s position ahead of the July 27 general elections.

MIRPUR (AJK), Jul 9 (APP):Several prominent political leaders and local figures in Azad Jammu and Kashmir’s Constituency-IV (Khari Sharif) have joined the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), a move political observers say could strengthen the party’s position ahead of the July 27 general elections.
The announcement was made at a political gathering held in support of PML-N candidate Chaudhry Rukhsar Ahmed.
The figures joining the party included District Council Chairman Raja Naveed Akhtar Goga, former District Council member Mirza Muzaffar Hussain Numberdar, District Council member Chaudhry Banaras Azam, Union Council Sahang Chairman Chaudhry Irfaq Shaki, Mangla-based political figure Chaudhry Siraj-ul-Haq, political and social activist Chaudhry Shakir, and Raja Mohsin of Ghaseet Pur Rajgan, along with hundreds of supporters.
The event was attended by Federal Minister Engineer Amir Muqam, former National Assembly member Chaudhry Abid Raza Kotla, PML-N Azad Kashmir General Secretary Chaudhry Tariq Farooq, Mirpur District President Chaudhry Javed Qadir, District Council member Mirza Ilyas, Raja Sabteen, Chaudhry Riaz, Chaudhry Sherbaz, Chaudhry Nawaz and other party leaders, according to party officials.
Speaking at the gathering, the PML-N leaders welcomed the new members and said their inclusion would reinforce the party’s organizational strength and improve its electoral prospects in Constituency-IV.
The Independent political analysts said the decision by several influential political families and local leaders to join PML-N could alter the political dynamics in the constituency and provide the party with momentum ahead of the upcoming elections.
