MIRPUR (AJK), Oct 26 (APP): Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Chaudhry Anwar ul Haq has said that October 27 is the darkest day in the history of Jammu and Kashmir.
In his special message issued on Sunday the AJK Prime Minister said that India’s claim over Jammu and Kashmir based on the so-called Instrument of Accession was rejected by the United Nations, which recognized the Kashmiris’ inalienable right to self-determination.
He said the people of Jammu and Kashmir have never accepted India’s unlawful occupation and continue their struggle for freedom. Across both sides of the Line of Control and around the world, Kashmiris observe October 27 as Black Day to protest against India’s illegal occupation and the ongoing suppression of their political and human rights.
Recalling the tragic events of November 1947, Chaudhry Anwar ul Haq said that Indian forces, aided by Dogra troops and extremist elements of the RSS and Akali Dal, massacred around 250,000 Muslims in Jammu and its adjoining areas, forcing millions to migrate. He added that during the 1965 and 1971 wars, thousands of Kashmiris were again displaced and took refuge in Azad Kashmir and Pakistan.
Referring to India’s continuing repression, the Prime Minister said that since 1989, more than 96,000 civilians have been martyred by Indian occupation forces. He emphasized that the Kashmiri people’s ongoing struggle is for their UN-recognized right to self-determination — a commitment India itself made before the United Nations in 1948 but has yet to honor.
The Prime Minister said India’s unilateral action of August 5, 2019, was a blatant violation of international law and UN Security Council resolutions. He accused India of attempting to alter the demographic composition of the occupied territory by granting domicile and employment to non-state subjects.
Chaudhry Anwar ul Haq said that Hurriyat leaders, human rights defenders, and journalists remain imprisoned, while freedom of speech, assembly, and expression are completely suppressed in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
Paying tribute to the courage and resilience of the Kashmiri people, he said India’s oppression has failed to weaken their determination for freedom. He urged the international community and the United Nations to play their due role in implementing the UN resolutions on Kashmir.
The Prime Minister expressed hope that the day is not far when occupied Jammu and Kashmir will be liberated from Indian occupation.
