MIRPUR, Jun 17 (APP): Mirpur Division Commissioner Raja Tahir Mumtaz Khan on Wednesday announced a comprehensive and integrated security strategy to ensure peace, public safety, and the smooth conduct of Muharram-ul-Haram observances across the division. Chairing a high-level meeting, he said all available resources would be utilized to maintain law and order and facilitate religious gatherings and mourning processions throughout the sacred month.
The meeting reviewed detailed security, administrative, and contingency arrangements for Muharram, with particular focus on safeguarding processions and majalis, preserving sectarian harmony, and preventing any disruption to public peace. Officials decided to implement special security measures at sensitive locations, Imam Bargahs, and procession routes, while law enforcement agencies and district administrations would operate under a unified coordination mechanism.
Participants also emphasized strict monitoring of social media platforms to curb hate speech and prevent the spread of sectarian incitement. Authorities warned that individuals found promoting religious intolerance or disturbing communal harmony through any medium would face legal action. Security agencies were directed to remain on high alert, intensify surveillance at entry and exit points, and closely monitor suspicious activities to counter potential threats, including terrorism and sabotage.
