Mirpur Civil Society holds rally Against Banned Awami Action Committee, Calls for Peace and Stability

MIRPUR, Jun 30 (APP):Various segments of civil society on Tuesday staged a large protest demonstration at Chowk Shaheedan against the banned Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee, reaffirming support for peace, law and order, and stability in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The participants marched through major city roads, including Allama Iqbal Road and Mian Muhammad Road, before returning to Chowk Shaheedan, where a public gathering was held.
The demonstrators chanted slogans in support of Pakistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and state unity, while also raising slogans against India. During the protest, participants burned an effigy representing the banned organization. The rally was attended by a large number of citizens, social activists, and representatives of various political and social organizations.
Addressing the gathering, senior Muslim Conference leader Abdul Shakoor Mughal and other speakers said that no group attempting to disrupt peace could be tolerated in the state. They alleged that the banned organization had sought to disturb the peaceful environment of the liberated territory by promoting unrest and disorder, creating concern among the public. They further alleged that the group’s activities were contrary to the interests of the state. APP could not independently verify these allegations.
The speakers urged state institutions and the public to work jointly to safeguard peace, stability, and development in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Reaffirming their commitment to unity and harmony, they said the people of the region would resist any attempt to create unrest or instability.
The gathering concluded with prayers for peace, prosperity, law and order, and national unity, while participants called upon the authorities to take strict legal action against those found involved in disturbing public peace.
