IRD AJK evolves an integrated plan to address local taxpayers’ problems regarding the Active Taxpayers List (ATL): Spokesperson

MIRPUR, Jan 15 (APP):Under the recent notification issued by the Federal Board of Revenue, Government of Pakistan, a formal and effective solution has been developed to address the problems faced by the tax-paying community in Azad Jammu and Kashmir regarding the Active Taxpayers List (ATL), it was officially said.
“Taxpayers of Azad Jammu and Kashmir who were included in the Active Taxpayers List under the relevant tax laws there were facing some practical difficulties in identifying and recognizing the ATL on the online portal of the Federal Board of Revenue, resulting in outbursts of issues like double taxation and non-recognition in some cases,” an IRD AJK spokesperson told APP here on Wednesday.
“Since the implementation of the above notification, these issues have been resolved by now, according to the spokesperson of the Inland Revenue Department.” The spokesperson said, clarifying that now the eligible taxpayers are included in the Active Taxpayers List of the Central Board of Revenue of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.  He stated that the list will also be recognized in the system of the Federal Board of Revenue as per the rules and regulations, and their tax status will be determined under a uniform and transparent procedure. “As a result of this initiative of the Department of Inland Revenue, not only have the concerns of double taxation and non-recognition faced by the taxpayers of the state been eliminated, but also there has been a significant improvement in the coherence, transparency, and administrative convenience of the taxpayer.
“The Department of Inland Revenue has already reiterated that such reform measures will be continued in the future for the convenience of taxpayers, fulfillment of legal requirements, and promotion of inter-agency coordination,” the spokesperson concluded.
