MUZAFFARABAD, Sep 28 (APP): In a step toward modernizing public service delivery through technology, practical measures have been accelerated in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) to transition government operations online.
AJK Prime Minister Barrister Iftikhar Gillani has directed authorities to operationalise the official AJK Digital Portal at the earliest, emphasizing the need to make public services easy, fast, and transparent for citizens, according to an official.
He said that the initiative aims to significantly reduce paper-based procedures and eliminate the need for citizens to make frequent physical visits to government offices.
The official said that through the digital platform, a wide range of public services will be accessible online directly from home, benefiting local residents as well as the AJK diaspora living across the globe.
He explained that in the initial phase, all government services that can be immediately transitioned to digital platforms will be integrated into the portal.
The objective of establishing this digital governance system is to enhance administrative speed, ensure transparency, improve public convenience, and minimize both time and costs for citizens.
The official highlighted that in order to promote modern governance standards, the AJK government is leveraging the technical expertise and institutional experience of the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB).
This digital push forms a key component of the AJK IT Department’s 100-day reform agenda, which focuses on strengthening IT infrastructure and aligning public service delivery with modern technological standards.
