MIRPUR (AJK): , Nov 6 (APP):Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister, Chaudhry Anwar ul Haq Prime Minister has directed that a comprehensive contract policy for medical colleges be prepared and submitted within a week.
He was chairing a high level meeting of the Governing Body of the public-sector Medical Colleges, Azad Jammu and Kashmir held in the state metropolis.
He further said that the governing body should be empowered to grant extensions under this policy
The governing body approved the budgets of the three medical colleges of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking on the occasion, the the Prime Minister rejected the proposal to increase tuition fees in medical colleges, emphasizing that access to medical education must remain affordable for students.
He also directed a ten-year audit of the accounts of the Joint Admission Committee of medical colleges and instructed that a detailed report be submitted within a month.
While granting approval for the up gradation of the Accident and Emergency Department at AIIMS Hospital under the auspices of Medical College Muzaffarabad, the prime minister directed that PC-1 be prepared and submitted to the Departmental Working Party (DWP) for approval.
The meeting was attended by Minister for Health, Dr. Nisar Ansar Abdali, Sardar Mir Akbar Khan, Chaudhry Azhar Sadiq, Special Secretary Health, and principals of the medical colleges.
The Vice Chancellor of the University of Health Sciences, Lahore, and the Secretary Health participated through video link.
