ISLAMABAD, Sep 21 (APP): Finance Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar Wednesday discussed the agenda of upcoming Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) conference with Country Head Asian Development Bank (ADB), Werner Leipach.
The ADB Director, who called on the Finance Minister here, apprised him about the preparations made so far by the ADB for CAREC conference.
He expressed the hope that the conference will meet its objectives successfully with the participation of a large number of CAREC members.
The CAREC Conference is scheduled to be held in October 2016 in Islamabad, according to a press statement issued by Ministry of Finance.
Six multilateral institutions including Asian Development Bank, United Nations Development Program (UNDP), International Monetary Fund (IMF), World Bank (WB), Islamic Development Bank (IDB) and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) are scheduled to be participating at the event.
During the meeting, the review of the ADB portfolio for Pakistan also came up to discussion, said a press statement issued by the Finance Ministry.
The Minister said that ADB had been a long standing development partner for Pakistan and that the cooperation will continue in future also for the development of the country and its people.
He said, the CAREC Conference will bring new opportunities for regional infrastructure development and trade facilitation.
The meeting was attended by senior officials of Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs Division.
